Web 2.0 Supremacy with Video 2.0 (part 1)
Video is definitely another element you need to include on your websites to draw the attention of visitors. Before you dive in, you need to understand the basics of online video.
It helps to know the different file formats you could include:
- MPEG – This is where audio and video combine in either MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 files. This was not created with any one operating system in mind.
- WMV – This is a Windows Media Video file
- QT- This is a QuickTime movie file
- MOV – This was designed for the Macintosh OS, but can be used on other operating systems with a plug-in.
- AVI – This is audio and video interweaved. It was developed to rival QuickTime for Windows machines, but can be used on other systems with plugins.
- RM – This is an archetypial streamed video that can be downloaded free from http://www.real.com. These may be used in a non-streamed format, but they were not designed for that use.
Since you want the most visitors possible, it helps to look through your options and choose one that will work for many different users across different operating systems. The less hassle it is for someone to watch your video, the better it is for you and them.
There are many reasons why using video is a great idea. For one thing, it can illustrate your product or service to actually show people the benefits of your product. This is powerful for people who can’t or won’t take the time to read what is written on the page. Suddenly, you’ve opened up the potential to get many more sales.
Another reason to use video is because it’s simply eye-catching. It can tell your reader where to go and what to do with minimal effort. This is definitely one of the best ways to get your message across.
