Develop Fanbase Loyalty with Teleseminars
Teleseminars are a great way to teach about and explain your products. People will call in to listen to what you have to say and ask questions. This goes a step further than Podcasting, because it generally happens in real time.
You might use Teleseminars to:
- Go over key points in your ebook
- Expand on the things you’ve taught in an ebook
- Give as a bonus for early buyers
- Generate a buzz before a product launch
- Keep a community going and cement your role as the expert
The first thing you need to do is to select a teleseminar service. There are many of these out there, so be sure you select one that allows you to record the call. That way you can provide an MP3 for your listeners who have missed out.
Here are several more teleseminar tips that will put you ahead of the game in using this Web 2.0 technique:
- Prepare an outline ahead of time that will help you keep track of the time and the content you want to go over. One good idea is to give your listeners an outline of what the call will cover so that they can follow along and take notes.
- If you have a guest coming on to be interviewed you should always make sure you have a backup plan or another guest in waiting just in case the first one can’t make it. You never know what can happen live!
- Keep a drink near you as you want your voice to sound clear and it may become dry with so much talking.
- Direct your callers to mute and unmute their line accordingly in case background noises pop up. Also, let them know when the line will be open for questions so that there aren’t any unnecessary interruptions.
- Plan on having an hour-long teleseminar, although some go as long as 1.5 to 2 hours.
- Make sure you include question and answer time at the end of your call to encourage participation from your listeners and increase their perceived value.
- When you end your teleseminar you need to have a call to action for the listeners. Give them something to do to keep things interactive such as giving them an assignment to complete, asking them for feedback, telling them to go to your site for a limited special offer, or directing them to your message board.
Teleseminars are a phenomenal way to interact with your listeners. It will help you because you’ll have your finger on the pulse of exactly what your prospects want and need to know. Your guests will love it because they get time with you as the expert. You’ll develop quite a loyal following by using this aspect of Web 2.0.
