Spotting Trends for Online Affiliate Sales

If you want to get easy, almost effortless affiliate sales, then you need to keep on top of the latest trends.  Trends are important, because they keep you at the very pulse of consumer spending habits.  Only by offering the very latest products can you hope to have massive sales with the least possible effort.

It’s important to keep up on current trends, because you’ll be able to better target the keywords that will soon be popular and might currently have less competition.  Also, by targeting current trends, your conversions should improve.

A trend becomes a trend because it’s what people are interested in at a given moment.  It’s what people are searching for, and what they’re buying.  By providing the products that are currently popular, you’ll find you get more sales, and make more money.

Whether you’re running an eBay affiliate site, or any other type of affiliate site, you can use eBay’s tools to discover some of the hottest trends.  eBay has an important tool for discovering the hottest selling items.

It’s called eBay Pulse, and it can be found at http://pulse.ebay.com.  This site shows you eBay’s overall most popular searches, as well as popular search terms and the “most watched items” from each major category.

Another great way to spot trends is to view Amazon’s best selling products.  You can find out which specific products are selling well, as well as which general topics are popular.

Keeping an eye on your competition is also important.  Some sites are just naturally more ahead when it comes to trends, so you should find a few of your competitors who seem to have a good handle on trends in your industry.  Watch what they’re promoting.  If they have a mailing list, it might be a good idea to subscribe.

You can also spot trends through reading magazines and other publications in your niche.  You might even consider subscribing to some of them if you do a lot of business in a particular area.

Google Trends can be helpful for spotting new trends.  Most of the things you’ll see there, especially on the front page, will probably be about things like current news and celebrity gossip.  But sometimes you might find an occasional gem with regards to your niche.

Forums are an amazing resource for keeping up with trends in a niche.  You should join several forums in your niche, and visit them regularly.  You should be able to keep an eye on what people are buying, what they’re talking about, and what types of problems they’re looking for solutions to.  Forums are probably the biggest free resource available for spotting trends within niches.

If all else fails, ask your visitors what they’re currently into.  You can ask them to email you, or you can provide polls on your Squidoo lens that asks them about their preferences.

Excellent tips for trends.I haven’t used Amazon like that so I’ll give it a go.
